Free music guide covers Melbourne and regional Victoria
A new free guide from Music Victoria now makes it easier for visitors to find the best live gigs in Melbourne and regional Victoria, as well as the main entertainment venues, music stores, events and music festivals.
Produced with the support of Tourism Victoria and the City of Melbourne, the 60-page pocket sized Melbourne Music Guide also outlines a history of key music events and includes information on other resources such as gig guides, media, public transport and music-friendly accommodation.
With over 370 live music venues in Melbourne alone, the guide offers visitors an invaluable tool to easily navigate their way around the city’s many venues and locate the best gigs and the best venues for their purposes.
This diverse and vibrant live music offering places Melbourne alongside some of the world’s most dynamic live music hubs including Austin, New York, Los Angeles, London, Berlin, Tokyo, Toronto and Paris.
Victoria’s broader live music scene attract millions of visitors every year, a fact backed by a recent report released by Deloitte Access Economics which revealed that in 2009/2010, alone Victoria’s venues hosted 5.4 million attendances.
The Melbourne Music Guide is currently available in Melbourne and Sydney cafes, venues and other hot spots, and can be downloaded online.
There are also plans for the guide to be distributed internationally in the coming year with the Australian Trade Commission intending to distribute the guide in its Los Angeles, Tokyo, New York, Toronto and Frankfurt offices for example.
The Melbourne Music Guide will be published annually and plans are underway to develop a website and smartphone application. Music lovers, stay tuned!
