Stakeholders

One of the hallmarks of Melbourne’s success as a destination is the culture of co-operation and collaboration across the tourism industry.

Destination Melbourne is privileged to be working in partnership with organisations from right across Melbourne and Victoria who share our passion for and commitment to the tourism industry.

We work with local government forums including IMAP (Inner Melbourne Action Plan) and Valley of the Arts together with regional tourism bodies such as Western Melbourne Tourism. Our charity partners include Mission Australia (Charcoal Lane), Travellers Aid and Conservation Volunteers Australia.

As we celebrate our tenth year, Destination Melbourne looks forward to extending existing relationships and building new partnerships with the people who help make Melbourne an exceptional global visitor experience.

Established in 2001, VTIC brings together a diverse range of tourism sectors, corporate businesses, associations and agencies, and represents the interests of Victoria’s tourism industry.

VTIC operates a cluster of six industry committees in key areas:

»  Events

»  Accommodation

»  Attractions

»  Tourism Services

»  Tour & Transport

»  Destination Management

It identifies industry challenges and formulates policy platforms and solutions in key areas including climate change and sustainability, investment, aviation, infrastructure, skills and Government resourcing.

VTIC provides a suite of business services for its members including advisory and consulting in the areas Workplace Relations, OH&S and Liquor Regulation.  VTIC holds quarterly industry forums and regular industry news and information. The Forums create the arena for industry discussion and informed debate around current industry issues and opportunities.

Destination Melbourne is an active member of VTIC, supporting a range VTIC initiatives including VTIC’s delivery of the Victorian Tourism Awards preparatory workshop program. Destination Melbourne are also keen participants in VTIC events, most recently taking out the honours in the hotly contested 2011 Tourism Industry Amazing Race.
