The City of Melbourne presents the 2012 Chinese New Year Festival. There will be celebrations over 7 days at various venues showcasing over 50 performances, 24 stalls, lion dances, dragon dances and lots of fire crackers.
This year, tens of thousands of people are expected to converge in Melbourne’s Chinatown on January 29th. Organised by the Federation of Chinese Associations, this year we will celebrate the Year of the Dragon. It is an important event in the City of Melbourne calendar, highlighting the importance of Melbourne being a multicultural city.
It attracts visitors young and old to learn about the rich and colourful Chinese culture, and to enjoy the different types of food and merchandise offered on the day.
