Moomba Festival is Melbourne! Every Labour Day long weekend in March Moomba Festival brings Melburnians together to share in the vibrancy and spirit of our much loved city.

One of Melbourne’s most popular and enduring events, this festival for the people has captured the hearts and imaginations of successive generations of festival goers enlivening the heart of the city along the banks of Melbourne’s own Yarra River. Moomba continues to deliver an outstanding program
of entertainment for all to ensure it remains a keenly anticipated childhood, family and community experience.

In honour of the event’s 56 year history Moomba continues to present the much-loved event traditions of the Moomba Masters International Water ski competition, the iconic and often madcap Birdman Rally, colourful carnival rides together with the magic and spectacle of the Moomba Parade.

As the centrepiece of the entire Festival, the Moomba Parade focuses on celebration; celebration of our harmonious and culturally diverse communities and peoples and of those characteristics which make Melbourne the distinctive, vibrant and energetic city that it is today.

The Moomba Parade travels through the heart of the city in a fantastically orchestrated kaleidoscope of music and colour featuring spectacular floats interspersed by a marvellous array of community groups, professional performers, the newly reinstated Moomba King and Queen together with abunch of well-known Melbourne personalities and its all in the name of Melbourne!
