Destination Melbourne Ltd is a not for profit company, overseen by a skill based board of directors. Destination Melbourne was established by industry and is the peak body for the co-operative marketing of Melbourne as a tourism destination.

The core activities of Destination Melbourne are to:

• Actively promote and market Melbourne as a tourism destination encouraging greater visitation, yield and dispersal;
  
• Provide industry and government with strategic direction on the marketing of Melbourne as a tourism destination;
  
• Develop co-operative marketing opportunities for the greater Melbourne tourism industry;
  
• Advocate on behalf of industry and articulate its needs to government;
