Launch of Melbourne Tourism Industry Leadership Program
The Minister for Tourism and Major events, Tim Holding launched the Melbourne Tourism Industry Leadership Program in Docklands last night.
‘The Melbourne Tourism Industry leadership Program is a groundbreaking initiative designed to help develop the leadership potential of people who are passionate about the industry.’ Said Mr Chris Buckingham, Chief Executive, Destination Melbourne.
The selection panel were impressed by the quality of applicants. “We can see the leadership potential in this year’s participants and look forward to seeing them grow as a result of their involvement in the program” Mr Buckingham said.
A wide range of themes will be explored with a focus on how participants can demonstrate positive leadership for the industry. They will hear from a range of inspirational speakers as well as having the opportunity to strengthen their industry networks.
Mr Richard Bussiere, Chairman Destination Melbourne said: ‘This program is a great of example of the industry working together and delivering really positive outcomes.’
The program runs between March and October. It involves 10 full-days of workshops including a mid-year reflection and review, as well as two ‘residentials’ at the beginning and conclusion of the program.
The program is being run by Destination Melbourne with support from Melbourne Airport, Tourism Victoria, City of Melbourne and Tourism Alliance Victoria.
