Tourism Accreditation

Australian Tourism Accreditation Program

The Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (ATAP) helps business address the key elements that are covered in the development of a solid business plan, but customises the framework specifically for tourism operators.

Destination Melbourne has been accredited since 2009 and have enjoyed a substantial improvement in business performance as a direct result.

You can complete your accreditation process online and free telephone support is available. The requirements of ATAP are neatly aligned with the Victorian Tourism Awards submission process making them a complementary activity.

T-QUAL Accreditation

T-QUAL Accreditation is the new National Tourism Accreditation Framework (NTAF) that brings together accreditation programs in the industry that are committed to the programs high standards, under a single sign of quality – the T-QUAL Tick.

The last couple of months have been very busy for T-QUAL Accreditation, and I am pleased to announce that we have finalised our domestic consumer marketing strategy. This strategy has been developed in order to effectively encourage travellers to book T-QUAL products when planning their next Aussie holiday.

We are all very aware that the domestic travel industry is experiencing a monumental shift in the way consumers are researching and booking their Australian holidays. Traditional travel research and booking tools such as travel agents, newspapers, travel brochures and television are being increasingly replaced by online tools.

Consumers are using online sites to plan and book their holidays, and also to find reassurance that their holiday expectations will be met.

Our marketing strategy has therefore been developed to leverage consumers’ online behaviour and to reinforce the message that when booking T-QUAL endorsed products, they can be confident that their choice is quality assured. It involves:

  • A dedicated T-QUAL micro site within the TripAdvisor Australia website that will showcase T-QUAL endorsed tourism businesses
  • An advertising campaign across numerous Australian travel planning sites that will direct consumers to the TripAdvisor micro site
  • Preferential listing on Australia.com for T-QUAL endorsed businesses that are part of the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW)
  • A supporting PR program that will highlight quality tourism experiences throughout Australia

If you are a member of a T-QUAL endorsed program, please sign your Sub-licence and use the T-QUAL Tick in your marketing to ensure you don’t miss out on the benefits of the campaign.
